Men's Track & Field Competes in Doug Hansen Open

UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University men's track & field team hosted the 2015 Doug Hansen Open on Friday (Jan. 23) afternoon in the SVSU Fieldhouse.  The Cardinals were able to post some solid marks against some very stiff competition in the meet.

D'Omar Boyden finished second in the 60 meter hurdles finals, finishing with an 8.37 second mark, as he was one of three runners in the race to best the previous Fieldhouse record in the race.

Robert Tarpley kept up his great performances in the jumps for SVSU, finishing runner-up in the triple jump with a distance of 14.14m and following that up with a third place showing in the long jump, leaping out to 6.86m.  Frank Sanders was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.53m.

Devin Hartnagle had a mark of 15.98m in the weight throw, placing him third.  Teammate Ben Morrow was fifth in the same event, throwing the weight a distance of 15.38m.

Nicholas Halabicky was seventh in the shot put, posting a distance of 14.71m.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team, consisting of Josh Simmons, Jimmy Cousins, Andrew Mudd and Travis Toye, placed third with a time of 3:24.99.

Malik Washington made the finals of the 60 meter dash and finished sixth with a time of 7.11.

The men are in action again next weekend as SVSU hosts the Jet's Pizza Invitational on Friday (Jan. 30) and Saturday (Jan. 31) in the SVSU Fieldhouse.
