Cardinal Track & Field Teams Finish Competition at GLIAC Outdoor Championships

GENEVA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's track & field teams finished up competition at the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday (May 2).

The SVSU men ended with an 8th place finish overall in the event with 33.5 points while the women posted a 10th place finish after finishing with 38.5 points.

Men

Robert Tarpley posted a 5th place finish in the triple jump.  Tarpley had a distance of 46'6.00" in the event.

Andrew Middleton was 7th in the 800 meter run finals with a time of 1:53.47.  

D'Omar Boyden had a 6th place finish in the 110 meter hurdle finals, finishing with a provisional mark of 14.69.

Tyler Grob had an NCAA Provisional mark in the pole vault, clearing the bar with a height of 16'0.75".

Women

In the 1,500 meter run finals, Chantelle Fondren was 4th after a finish of 4:34.27 that provisionally qualified her for the NCAA National meet.

For the women, Diamond Taylor posted a 4th place finish in the 400 meter dash finals with a time of 56.61, just .61 seconds shy of the race's winner.  Teammate Ola Hendler was 7th in the same finals race, crossing the finish line with a time of 58.24.

Taylor, Hendler, Shavonne Roberson and Kim Balls posted a 4th place finish in the 4 x 400 meter relay.  The four crossed the line with a time of 3:52.57.

Anna Fochesato had a 4th place showing in the high jump, crossing the bar with a height of 5'4.25".  She added a 5th place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 37'10.75".

The next stop on the Cardinals' schedule is the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championshps from May 22-24.  This year's event is set to take place in Raleigh, N.C.
