Track Teams Set for GLIAC Outdoor Championships

GENEVA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University track & field teams are set to compete in the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  The event is scheduled to run from April 30th - May 2nd at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio with Lake Erie College playing host for the championships.

The women's team is looking to improve on last year's 5th place showing, as the Lady Cardinals posted 66.5 points in the event.  The men finished 7th in 2013 with a total of 37 points.

In 2013, Taylor Stepanski was named the GLIAC "Freshman Runner of the Year" and Tyler Grob broke the SVSU and GLIAC record for the decathlon with a total of 7, 024 points.

The men's decathlon 100 meter dash kicks-off the championship for this year, as it begins at 1:30 pm this afternoon (Apr. 30).
