Grob Places Ninth at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field National Championships

MANKATO, Minn. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's track and field teams had athletes compete in day two of the NCAA DII National Championships.

Junior Tyler Grob (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney HS) competed in the heptathlon competition for the men and ended day one with a point total of 2,581.  Grob would earn an 11th place finish in the 60-meter dash clocking in at 7.40.  The next event that Grob competed in was the long jump where he placed 13th with a mark of 6.00 meters.  The third event was the shot put where he placed second with a toss of 12.82 meters.  The final event of day one was the high jump where he cleared a bar of 1.76 meters good for a 13th place finish.

Day Two showed more promise for Grob as he earned a ninth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles coming in with a time of 8.69.  The next event of the day was the pole vault where Grob soared over a height of 4.70 meters, good for a first place finish.  The final event of the competition was the 1,000-meter run where Grob clocked in at 2:47.38 which was good for a fourth place finish.  Grob would earn a ninth place finish overall with a point total of 5,009.

Alycia Wright (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North HS) would also compete in day two of the NCAA DII National Championships.  She would earn a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run timing in at 2:11.75.  With the sixth place finish Wright earns her second All-American honors at the National Championships.

With the conclusion of the meet the Cardinals complete the indoor season and look to continue their success in the outdoor season.
