HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley
State University track team competed and finished well in the
Hillsdale College "GINA" Relays this weekend (Apr. 24-25).
Senior Sam Tilmon (Romulus, Mich.) took second place in the 110
meter relay with a time of 14.65. The Cardinals had a solid showing
in the 800 meter run as senior Charlie Richards (Goodrich, Mich.)
took third place with a time of 1:52.23 while junior Tony Filipek
(Caro, Mich.) took fifth with a time of 1:52.64. Junior Scott
Chevalier (Ann Arbor, Mich.) placed fifth in the 100 meter dash
with a time of 10:62 and junior Steve Genther (Laingsburg, Mich.)
took fifth in the 10000 meter dash with a time of 30:50.92.
For the women, junior Maggie Stalker (Oscoda, Mich.) finished
ninth overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of
11:11.38 while junior Emily Nugent (Benzonia, Mich.) took tenth in
the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 47.40 meters.
The men’s and women’s track teams are back in action
on April 30 as they travel to Hillsdale College to compete in the
GLIAC Outdoor Championship starting at 4 PM.
