Men’s Soccer Falls in Regular Season Final

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer program wrapped up the 2023 regular season on Sunday on the road against the Parkside Rangers. They lost the final match 3-0 and finished the season fifth in the GLIAC.

A span of 18 minutes in the second half was the difference. After a scoreless half, the Rangers scored all three goals in the middle of the second half to claim the victory.

The Cardinals took 10 shots with six of them making their way on goal. Two shots came from Alex Demorow, Jonathan Monney, and Evan Baker. Jack Simms started in goal for Saginaw Valley and stopped three of the six shots on goal, those three saves all came in the first half of the match.

After trailing 7-3 in shots at the half, SVSU matched UWP with seven shots each in the final 45. However, Parkside scored in the 70th minute, the 74th minute, and the 88th minute of play.

With the loss, men's soccer sits fifth overall in the GLIAC and the quarterfinal matches are set. Davenport leapfrogged St. Cloud State for the third seed so Saginaw Valley will head to Minnesota to play the Huskies to open up the GLIAC tournament. The match date and time is still to be determined but will be on either Saturday, October 28 or Sunday, October 29.
