Northwood edges SVSU 2-1 in Midland

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team suffered a tough loss to rival Northwood University on the road Sunday at Midland Community Stadium in Midland, Mich.

Down by a goal at the break, SVSU found the game-tying score early in the second half, but Northwood scored the eventual game-winner with 22 minutes to play.

The loss drops SVSU to 7-4-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Northwood got the scoring started in the 31st minute on a goal from Chase Clark to put SVSU down 1-0. The Cardinals evened the score in the 52nd minute when Alex Gloshen found Brady Walker for a goal.

The score remained even until Amedeo Crovasce netted the game-winner in the 69th minute for the Timberwolves.

SVSU outshot Northwood 21-10, while Callum Harley made one save in the net for the Cardinals. Walker led SVSU in shots with six, while Gloshen finished with five.

The Cardinals remain on the road for two games next weekend starting against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 1 pm Friday in Kenosha, Wis.
