SVSU takes care of UIU 3-1 in Iowa

FAYETTE, Iowa – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team headed west this weekend for two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests, starting against Upper Iowa University Friday in Fayette, Iowa.

SVSU captured the win, topping UIU 3-1 to improve to 5-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the GLIAC.

After a sluggish start, the Cardinals managed to find the net just before the half on the fourth goal of the season from Danny Barlow.

The Peacocks fought back with a goal early in the second half to tie the game at 1-1. The tie did not last long, as Tom Worm recorded his first career goal on an assist from Brady Walker less than two minutes later. Chidie Nnolim gave SVSU an insurance goal, his second of the season, in the 65th minute.

The Cardinals outshot the Peacocks 10-6, while Callum Harley improved to 3-1-0 in net this season for SVSU, making two saves.

SVSU takes on GLIAC newcomer St. Cloud State University at 12:30 pm EST on Sunday in St. Cloud, Minn.
