ASHLAND, Ohio -- Three Saginaw Valley State University Men's Soccer had three student-athletes earn Division II Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region honors following their play for the 2018 season.

Omar Sinclair was named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Team as a defender while Michael Shaikly (MF) and Azaad Liadi (F) earned All-Midwest Region Second Team honors.

Sinclair garners another honor after being named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team. He helped anchor an SVSU defense that led the league with a 0.62 goals against average, allowing only 11 goals total this season. The Cardinals racked-up seven clean sheets in the 2018 regular season while securing the program's fourth GLIAC title and second in the past three years. This marks Sinclair's second All-Midwest Region honor after being named to the second team in 2017.

Shaikly earned All-GLIAC honors in 2018 for the third time in his career and was named All-GLIAC Second Team at the midfielder position last season. He scored twice and added two assists for the Cardinals while ranking third on the team in shots and second in shots on goal. He scored a goal this past Saturday in the team's 4-1 victory at Southern Indiana to secure a berth in the NCAA Round of 16.

Liadi, a 2017 All-GLIAC Second Team honoree and 2018 First Team member, led the Cardinals offensively with seven goals and 16 points, adding two helpers during the regular season. His seven scores ranked him fourth in the GLIAC and his 16 points were fifth. He knocked-in two game-winning goals this regular season as well. He recently had a goal and two helpers in the team's 4-1 win Saturday at Southern Indiana in the second round of the national tournament.

The Cardinals have advanced to the NCAA Division II Round of 16 for the third time and are competing in the national postseason tournament for the seventh time. SVSU faces Ohio Valley Thursday (Nov. 15) at 5:00 p.m. eastern time at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Follow the match live at www.svsucardinals.com
