NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Selection Show Set For 6 P.M. on Monday

NCAA — The 2018 Division II men's soccer championship bracket will be announced Monday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. at the link provided here. 

Thirty-eight teams will be selected to the field, split into eight regionals, with SVSU Men's Soccer team in the hopes of finding their way into the Midwest Regional bracket.

Current top eight teams for the regional rankings as of Oct. 28 are as follows:

The Cardinals are coming in as #1 in midwest regional rankings as of last week, and #11 in the United Soccer Coaches poll updated on Oct. 28. Automatic qualifiers for the midwest regional due to winning their respective conference titles are Tiffin, Maryville and Ashland. 

Simon Fraser leads the NCAA DII standings in first place. Charleston (W.V.), the reigning national champions, sit in fourth place, which SVSU held to a 0-0 tie in the opening matchup of the 2018 season.

Two to six teams will be selected from each of the eight regions and will be paired within their region for first and second round play. The first round will kick off on campus sites on Nov. 8-9. Second rounds are set for Nov. 10-11. Third round games resume Nov. 15-16 before quarterfinals on November 17-18.

The 2018 semifinals will be played at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday, Nov. 29. The winners will move on to the championship game set for noon ET on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh.
