#24 SVSU Draws in Regional Tilt Versus Lewis, 0-0

CALEDONIA, Mich. -- The No. 24-ranked Saginaw Valley State University Men's Soccer squad hit the road to face regional opponent Lewis University on Friday (Sep. 7) afternoon. The Cardinals and Flyers played to a 0-0 tie, as neither team was able to find the back of the net in a match played at Davenport University.

Saginaw Valley had some offense rolling in the opening half, getting off eight shots while holding the Flyers to only a pair. Back-to-back shots from SVSU's Wladimir Babaew and Michael Shaikly were saved by the Flyer goalkeeper, keeping the match scoreless.

The second frame saw Lewis notch four shots and there were only a pair for the Cardinals. The game remained scoreless and headed to overtime.

Brady Walker gave the Cards their best scoring opportunity of the night, almost sneaking one past Lewis's Edgar Avila in front of the net at the 99' marker. He turned it away, however, and the match moved to the second OT session.

Both overtime sessions would pass with no scoring and the final score would be 0-0 after 110 minutes of play.
