UNIVERSITY CENTER -- In what was a matchup to decide the 2017 GLIAC Regular Season Champion, the SVSU Men's Soccer team fell late to the Northwood University Timberwolves in the regular season finale by a score of 1-0. Northwood scored a goal with just under nine minutes left to claim the victory over the Cardinals.

The first half went scoreless into the half, as the Cardinals posted a 5-1 edge in shots and 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The second half looked to be much of the same, with each team firing-off six shots and neither team getting on the board until late.

It was just inside the 81' mark when Northwood found the back of the net, when Sebastian Grillo used a James Vaughn pass to give the visitors the 1-0 lead.

Saginaw Valley got a couple of shots off from there, putting one on goal from Michael Hamilton. Neither would find the back of the net, however, as Northwood completed the shutout and claimed the regular season championship.
