UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer program has qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament, entering as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region. The Cardinals will serve as a host to rounds one and two, opening play on Friday (Nov. 11) against No. 6 seed Drury University at Braddock Field. 

The 2016 selection into the annual postseason event is the fifth overall for the program and fifth in the past six seasons. Last season, the Cards posted a 2-0 opening shutout victory over Indianapolis before falling by a 3-1 score to host Northwood in the Midwest Regional Semifinals. 

Saginaw Valley recently dropped a narrow 2-1 double overtime decision on Sunday (Nov. 6) to Tiffin University in the 2016 GLIAC Tourament Championship match after moving on with a 1-0 shutout over Lake Erie in the tourney's semifinals. 

The winner of Friday's match will advance to the second round against the No. 2-seeded Dragons. That match is set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Awaiting these three teams on the other half of the regional bracket are No. 4 Southern Indiana, No. 5 Quincy and No. 1 overall regional seed Rockhurst. USI and Quincy play at Rockhurst Friday at 8:00 p.m., with the winner advancing to a 2:00 p.m. Sunday matchup against Rockhurst.
