UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.- The nationally no. 23-ranked SVSU men's soccer team overcame a late goal from their opponents, forcing overtime with a last minute goal and adding another in double overtime for a 2-1 over the Walsh University Cavaliers.

The opening 45 minutes of play was scoreless despite SV firing-off 18 shots, with six of those going on goal but being stopped by Walsh's Tom Jackson.

The Cards would put four more shots on net in the second 45 minutes of play but neither team found the back of the net until Walsh's Jordan Prescod scored at the 89:01 marker, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead with under a minute left.

SVSU came up big, however, responding quickly just 24 seconds later when Tobee Oyeleye found Andrew Dalou for a score, knotting the match at 1-1 at the 89:25 point.

The teams each got a single shot off in the initial overtime session, but the game would advance further into double overtime. 

It was then when Dalou connected with Matt Wilson for the game-winner, beating the Cavalier goalkeeper at the 106' mark for the 2-1 victory.

• SVSU posted a significant 29-7 edge in overall shots for the match, putting 12 of them on goal compared to Walsh's one on their goal.
• Dalou's goal was his fourth of the season and Oyeleye's assist marks his second of 2016.
• Wilson's game-winner was his fifth game-winner of the season and his 12th goal. He now has 34 points overall, which leads the GLIAC. His 12 goals and 10 assists lead the league as well.
• Wilson had 10 shots against the Cavaliers, with six of those being put on goal. 
• Azaad Liadi notched five shots with three on goal while Dalou had two shots, both being on goal.
• Connor Keane (13-3-0) got the victory for Saginaw Valley working the entire match in net for the Cardinals.

"I'm so happy we managed to win this match today. It was much more stressful than I would have liked, but we still dug deep and came away with three huge points. We had so many chances in the first half but I felt like nothing was falling in our favor. In the second half, we still had chances but Walsh did a good job of defending and had moments in attack that caused us problems and they did just that with a very late goal. We showed amazing resolve to come back and equalize the match, and then to eventually score the game-winner was magnificent. It's back to work tomorrow in preparing for Tiffin on Wednesday, and it's more about rest and recovery than anything else at this point of the season."

The league-leading Cardinals travel to Tiffin University on Wednesday (Oct. 26) in a critical GLIAC showdown. The first kick is set for 2:00 p.m. in Ohio. SVSU defeated the Dragons in the earlier meeting this season, claiming a 2-1 win on October 5.
