BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer goalkeeper Connor Keane has been selected as the GLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 record over top teams this past week.
Keane made four saves over the week, including three in the team's 1-0 shutout over Northwood on Sunday. He allowed one goal in the team's pair of victories, beginning with the 2-1 decision over no. 12 nationally-ranked Tiffin on Wednesday. Keane's shutout on Sunday was his fourth of the 2016 campaign. The Cards have now won seven in a row, matching the program record shared by last year's team and the 2012 national runner-up squad.
SVSU returns to the pitch on Wednesday at home against Findlay in a 3:30 p.m. contest before traveling to play at Ohio Dominican Friday (7 pm) and Ashland Sunday (4 pm) in weekend competition.
