PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The 13th-ranked SVSU men's soccer team dropped its first GLIAC contest of the 2015 season after the Lake Erie Storm scored three second half goals in a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals on Friday (Oct. 2) evening.
SVSU got on the board first and grabbed a 1-0 advantage when Matt Wilson found Aleksandar Isaevski at the 17:14 marker for the score.
That lead would hold true through halftime and until Lake Erie's Chad Becina knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal at the 67:15 mark.
SVSU's Troy Watson answered quickly just over a minute later, scoring an unassisted goal at the 68:22 mark to get the lead back at 2-1.
The Storm would add goals at the 71:51 and 76:33 marks, respectively, to take a 3-2 lead. That's where the score would stay, as SV couldn't answer and Lake Erie closed out for the win.

- The teams combined for 27 shots, 22 of which were put on goal. Lake Erie had 12 of those shots on goal.
- SVSU's Alexandre Bouillennec (7-1-0) made nine saves and suffered just his first loss in net of the 2015 season.
- Isaevski's goal is his fourth of the season, ranking him tied for third on the team, playing on the defensive end of the field.
- Wilson's assist on the Isaevski goal gives him seven on the season. That ranks him second on the team and the GLIAC, second only the Tyler Channell's 10 helpers.
- Watson's goal gave him two scores on the year.
- Channell had a match-high four shots, putting three of them on goal for the night.
- Wilson had three shots with all three being put on goal.

"Overall, we are extremely disappointed dropping the contest tonight. We dominated most of the game but Lake Erie sat in and defended well for long periods, making it difficult to break them down. They were willing to do anything to beat us tonight and they accomplished that. We needed to match their determination more when the game was starting to turn in their favor in the final 15 minutes, even though we were leading 2-1. The goals we conceded were not characteristic of our team and we will need to fix that. Losing is a tough pill to swallow when we have been playing so well but the environment and adversity we faced today will build the character we need to succeed moving forward."

Saginaw Valley continues on the road to play Ohio Dominican University in another GLIAC matchup in Columbus. The Panthers are 0-6-2 overall and 0-5-1 in league play and are coming off a 3-0 home loss to Northwood University on Friday.
