UNIVERSITY CENTER - The SVSU men's soccer team wrapped-up a weekend sweep and kept an unblemished GLIAC record in-tact after notching a 9-1 victory over the Walsh University Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon.

The nine goals mark the most for the program in a single game since a 10-0 shutout victory over Grace Bible on September 10, 2000.

The Cardinals built an 8-0 lead in the contest and led by a score of 6-0 at the halftime break. Walsh scored its only goal with 12 minutes to play but SVSU answered with one more score to seal the 9-1 win.

Jordan Kalk scored first and alternated with Tyler Channell for the team's first five goals. Channell assisted on two of Kalk's goals and Matt Wilson had a helper for both Kalk and Channell's first goal. Aleksandar Isaevski would get in on the scoring action off a feed from Wilson again and Channell, Andrew Dalou and Griffin Parks had the last three goals for SVSU. Tyler Stephens, Alberto Gangutia and Oluwatobi Oyeleye had assists on those three scores. Both Channell and Kalk recorded their first career hat tricks in the match.

Alexander Bouillennec (5-1) got the victory in net for Saginaw Valley, recording two saves on the three shots he faced on goal.

"Today I was extremely impressed with the team's approach and mentality," said head coach Andy Wagstaff. "We knew that Walsh was going to be in a tough spot after their loss at Northwood on Friday, therefore we approached the game with a drive and desire to end any hope of Walsh getting a rhythm against us. We worked tirelessly to win the ball back and then in the attack we were clinical. Overall, I am most proud of the individual and team discipline we exhibited this weekend!"

SVSU (5-1, 3-0 GLIAC) continues play at home this weekend, as the Cards host the University of Findlay on Friday at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Tiffin on Sunday in another 3:30 p.m. match-up.
