Four Cardinals Named To 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Midwest Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Four Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer players were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA) by being named to a 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II All-Midwest Region team for their play during the 2013 season.

Senior Lachlan Savage (Canton, Mich.) joined junior Michael Lamb (Sunderland, England) and sophomore Tyler Channell (Troy, Mich.) on the All-Region First Team while freshman Jordan Kalk (Richmond Hill, Ontario) was named to the All-Midwest Region Third Team.

Savage earns his second-consecutive showing on the first team as a midfielder.  The senior scored six goals and added three assists for the Cardinals, racking-up 15 total points.  Two of his six goals were of the game-winning variety.

Lamb makes his first appearance on the first team as a defenseman a year after being named to the second team.  He helped anchor a defense that allowed just 20 goals in as many matches for SVSU.  Of the five shots Lamb had on goal this season, four found the back of the net to account for his eight total points.  Michael was named the GLIAC "Defensive Player of the Year" for 2013.

Channell makes his first All-Midwest Region appearance after a season in which he was selected as the 2013 GLIAC "Offensive Player of the Year."  The sophomore scored eight goals and had three assists, a 19 point total.

Kalk earns third team plaudits after a stellar freshman season that saw him named the 2013 GLIAC "Freshman of the Year," as he finished leading the league in goals (10) and points (21) after the conclusion of the seson.  Of his 10 goals, two were game-winners.

The three Cardinals who were named to the first-team will now be up for All-American consideration.
