Four Cardinals Earn Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region Honors

QUINCY, Ill. - Four Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer student-athletes were honored by being named Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region for their performances during the 2013 season.

Junior defenseman Michael Lamb (Sunderland, England) was named to the All-Midwest Region First Team.  Lamb, who was named the 2013 GLIAC "Defensive Player of the Year", was highly instrumental for a Cardinal defense that allowed just 20 goals in as many matches for the 2013 campaign.  Four of his five shots on goal found the back of the net this season, as he totaled eight points.

Three other Cardinals were named Second Team All-Midwest Region.

Sophomore forward Tyler Channell (Troy, Mich.), the 2013 GLIAC "Offensive Player of the Year", freshman forward Jordan Kalk (Richmond Hill, Ont.), the 2013 GLIAC "Freshman of the Year" and senior mid-fielder Lachlan Savage (Canton, Mich.) all earned Second Team honors.

Channell had eight goals and three assists, totaling 19 points for SVSU on the season.  One of Channell's goals was a game-winner.

Kalk finished the year as the team's leader with 21 points.  He had 10 goals and an assist, with two of those goals being of the game-winning variety.

Savage netted six goals and three assists, good enough for 15 points from the mid-fielder position.  He had a pair of game-winners as well for SVSU.

Having made the All-Midwest Region First Team, Lamb is now up for Daktronics, Inc. All-American consideration.  Those teams will be announced on December 4th.
