Channell, Lamb and Kalk Headline SVSU Men's Soccer All-GLIAC Selections

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team had several players receive All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) recognition for their performances during the 2013 season.

Sophomore forward Tyler Channell was named the 2013 GLIAC Men's Soccer "Offensive Player of the Year."  Channell has recorded eight goals and three assists for 19 points, which currently leads the GLIAC.  He competed in all 18 games this season for the Cardinals, leading them to a 10-3-5 overall record heading into the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals.  Channell is the second-straight Cardinal to be named the "Offensive Player of the Year."

Junior defender Michael Lamb was tabbed the 2013 GLIAC Men's Soccer "Defensive Player of the Year."  Lamb has started and played in 17 matches thus far for the Cardinals.  The native of Sunderland, England notched four goals on just nine shots for the season and eight points total.  He was highly instrumental in the SVSU defense allowing just 18 goals in as many contests.

Freshman forward Jordan Kalk was selected as the 2013 GLIAC Men's Soccer "Freshman of the Year."  Kalk, a freshman from Richmond Hill, Ontario, has a league and team-high nine goals on the season and 18 total points (2nd) while seeing action in all 18 matches for SVSU.  Kalk had two game-winning goals for the Cardinals.

Joining Channell and Lamb on the All-GLIAC First Team for 2013 is senior midfielder Lachlan Savage.  Savage posted five goals and three assists for 13 points, including one game-winning goal.

Joining Kalk on this year's All-GLIAC Second Team is junior midfielder Zach Vasold.  Vasold started all 18 games for SVSU this season, recording a game-winning goal.

Junior Craig Neal was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.  Neal led the GLIAC with 10 assists and added three goals for a total of 16 points.
