BAY CITY, Mich. - Aaron Gerwig (Freiburg, Germany), a freshman on the SVSU men's soccer team, has been named the GLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive "Athlete of the Week" for his play over the past weekend in the Cardinals' victories over Malone and Walsh.
Saginaw Valley State University freshman goal keeper Aaron Gerwig posted a pair of shutouts last week, helping the Cardinals take over first place in the GLIAC standings. Gerwig recorded six saves in SVSU's 6-0 win over Malone University on Friday (Sept. 20). He then recorded two saves in the Cardinals' 3-0 over Walsh University on Sunday (Sept. 22). Gerwig currently leads the GLIAC in goals against average (0.66) and ranks second in goals allowed (3).
