UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The awards keep coming for Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer standout Zach Myers (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS) as he earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-Distict IV first team.

Capital One Academic All-District selections must be a sophomore and above and hold at least a 3.30 grade-point average (GPA) and are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Myers, the 2012 GLIAC Offensive "Player of the Year" and 2011 Defensive "Player of the Year", started all 20 matches this season for the SVSU men's soccer program, while posting a GLIAC best 14 goals with two assists after switching positions from defense to forward this season. Myers scored two or more goals in five matches this season as the Cardinals recorded a 15-2-3 record and both the GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships this season. He became the first men's soccer player in GLIAC history to win both Offensive "Player of the Year" and Defensive "Player of the Year" award in their career. 

Saginaw Valley will host Quincy in the second round of the NCAA Division II Super Region No. 3 on Sunday (Nov. 11) afternoon at 1:00 PM at the SVSU Soccer Complex.

The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District ® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs in 2012. 

The Academic All-District ® teams include the student-athletes that are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
