Men's Soccer Jumps to No. 18 in Nation; No. 3 in Midwest Regional Rankings

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team has moved up in all the major rankings after their GLIAC Championship-clinching weekend.

The Cardinals moved up to No. 18 in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America polls, jumping from No. 24 the previous week. 

SVSU more importantly slide into the No. 3 position in the Midwest Regional Rankings today (Oct. 31) as announced by the NCAA. The top two positions are currently occupied by Rockhurst (No. 1) and Quincy (No. 2) as the top 5 programs qualify for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

The Cardinals are currently 13-2-3 overall on the season including 9-2-2 in the conference and have shutout seven consecutive Division II opponents.

Saginaw Valley will host the 2012 GLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament as the No. 1 seed starting on Friday (Nov. 2) when they battle their rival, the No. 4 seeded Northwood Timberwolves at 2:30 PM.
