Cardinals Men's Soccer Move Up to No. 4 in Midwest Regional Rankings

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team moved up to No. 4 in the latest NCAA Midwest Regional Soccer Rankings that were released today (10/24).

The Cardinals follow Quincy University who earned the top spot in this weeks rankings. Rockhurst currently sits in the second position and is followed by Cedarville who rounds out the top three. Drury University, Ohio Dominican and Notre Dame (Ohio) round of the rest of the top seven.  Only the top five teams in the region will be selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, which is slated to begin Nov. 9.

Saginaw Valley claimed a thrilling 1-0 decision in double overtime over Northwood University on Friday (Oct. 19) and then notched a 4-0 win over Tiffin University on Sunday (Oct. 22) to close out the home portion of their 2012 schedule and improve their record this season to 11-2-3 overall and 8-2-2 in the GLIAC.  SVSU will wrap up the regular season this weekend on the road at the University of Findlay (Oct. 26) on Friday and at Urbana University on Sunday (Oct. 28).  The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 24 in the latest NSCAA poll that was released earlier this week.
