Saginaw Valley Falls to Rockhurst, 1-0 in NCAA Regionals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team fell to Rockhurst University, 1-0 today (Nov. 11) on their first trip to the NCAA Division II Super Regionals in the school's history.

The lone goal of the evening came when Rockhurst's Nick McDonald found the back of the net at the 55:39 mark in the second half of the contest. The Cardinals managed only six shots, one of which was on goal, while the Hawks were able to get five of their 22 shots off on goal. Freshman Zach Vasold (Freeland, Mich.) had two shots for Saginaw Valley, while junior goaltender Jason Wise (Troy, Mich.) saved four of the five shots he faced.

The loss concludes the record setting season for the Cardinals as they finish with an overall record of 12-5-3 on the season. Rockhurst improves to 16-2-2 overall and will advance to play Northern Kentucky in the regional final on Sunday (Nov. 13) at 2:00 pm.
