Saginaw Valley Falls to Tiffin in GLIAC Semifinals, 2-1

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team fell to Tiffin University, 2-1 today (Nov. 3) in the semifinal game of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.

The Cardinals were the first to get on the scoreboard when Zach Myers (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS) found Zach Vasold (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) for a goal inside the box just seven minutes into play. The Dragons scored their first goal of the contest just ten minutes later ending the first half of play in a 1-1 tie.

Tiffin found the back of the net with just two minutes left in regulation time on an unassisted goal, going on to a 2-1 victory over Saginaw Valley. Junior goaltender Jason Wise (Troy, Mich.) suffered the loss saving seven of the nine shots he faced.

With the loss the Cardinals falls to 12-4-3 overall on the season, while Tiffin improves to 10-5-3 overall on the season. Saginaw Valley will wait to see on Monday (Nov. 7) if they have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regionals.
