Saginaw Valley Ties Ashland, 0-0 in Double Overtime

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team tied Ashland  University, 0-0 today (Oct. 16) in double overtime.

Neither Saginaw Valley nor Ashland would be able to find the back of the net in the entire 110 minutes of play ending the game in a 0-0 tie after two overtimes. Freshman Craig Neal (Bay City, Mich. / Bay City Western HS) put three of his five shots on goal, while junior goaltender Jason Wise (Troy, Mich.) stopped the two shots he faced.

Head coach Cale Wassermann said, "Today the boys battled all game and I thought we had control of the game for the most part, both teams created a few dangerous chances just could not score. I liked our work rate all around but we were disappointed that we couldn't put one in the net and get the result we were working for."

With the tie the Cardinals move to 9-2-3 overall on the season, and 5-2-2 in the GLIAC, while the Eagles move to 3-8-3 overall on the season, and 2-5-2 in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley will be back in action on Thursday (Oct. 20) when they return home to face Tiffin University. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
