Saginaw Valley Ties Lake Erie, 1-1 in Double Overtime

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team tied Lake Erie College 1-1 today (Sept. 30) in double overtime.

The Storm took an early advantage at the 6:48 mark going up 1-0 over the Cardinals and would carry the lead into the second half of the contest. Sophomore Lachlan Savage (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth HS) found the back of the net just 37 seconds into the second half off a pass from Zach Walega (Saline, Mich.) knotting the score at 1-1.

Neither team would be able to capitilize on any of their shots through the two overtimes ending the game in a 1-1 tie. Junior goaltender Jason Wise (Troy, Mich.) and the Cardinals defense allowed only five shots on goal in the entire 120 mintues of play.

With the tie Saginaw Valley moves to 5-1-2 overall on the season, and 2-1-1 in the GLIAC, while Lake Erie moves to 4-5-1 overall on the sesaon, and 2-2-1 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will be back in action on Sunday (Oct. 2) when they take on the Ashland Eagles at home. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
