UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley
State University men’s soccer team defeated the University of
Findlay today (Oct. 11) 1-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.
The Cardinals took the early lead over the Oilers in the 13th
minutes of the game when senior Kevin Fox (Flushing,
Mich.) scored his seventh goal of the season off a pass from senior
Ryan Seelhoff
(Owosso, Mich.). This would be the only goal needed for Saginaw
Valley as the Cardinal defense would shut down the Findlay offense
the rest of the game. Senior goaltender Piotr Kazmierczak
(Stargard, Poland / Kellogg CC) held the opposition scoreless
making six saves for Saginaw Valley.
With the win the Cardinals improve to 4-8-2 overall on the season
and 1-4-1 in the GLIAC, while Findlay falls to 4-5-2 overall on the
season and 3-3-2 in conference play. Saginaw Valley continues play
Friday (Oct. 16) when they travel to Urbana University at 4:00pm.
