ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Saginaw
Valley State University men’s soccer team pounded Rochester
College on Wednesday (Oct. 15) by scoring four goals in the first
half on their way to a 5-1 victory.
Leading the way for the Cardinals on offence, senior Brent Walker
(Owosso, Mich./Owosso) had one goal, and one assist. Seniors Kevin
Fox (Flushing, Mich./Flushing), Larry Ferreira (London, Ont./Regina
Mundi College), and juniors Donnie Dressig (Chesterfield,
Mich./Sienna Heights) and Brock Humphries (Shelby Township,
Mich./Utica Eisenhower) rounded out the goal-scoring for the
Cardinals.
Between the posts, junior Piotr Kazmierczak kept Rochester
scoreless through the first half by making two saves on eight
shots. Rochester got on the board in the second half as freshman
goalkeeper Mike Fox took the reigns. Fox, however, did make two
saves on eight shots.
SVSU’s offense pounded the ball on Rochester’s net by
getting off 38 shots in the 90 minute contest. The win gives the
Cardinals a 5-6-2 record overall, and they remain 1-4 in the GLIAC.
SVSU will return to GLIAC conference action at 2:30 p.m. Sunday
(Oct. 19) when they face Ashland University at the SVSU Soccer
Complex.
