MIDLAND, Mich. - The
Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer team ended the
regular season today (Nov. 2) on a high note by beating Northwood
University 5-0. In the first half, the Cardinals were on the board off senior Larry Ferreira’s (London, Ont./Regina Mundi College) foot at the 28:46 minute mark, notching the lone goal of the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the Cardinals took off on an offensive explosion by scoring four times. At the 61 minute mark, Ferreira scored his second goal of the match, followed by junior Colin Selahowski (Holy, Mich./Defiance College) about 11 minutes later. Less than five minutes later, senior John Pizanis (East Lansing, Mich./Michigan State University) made the game 4-0, and senior Matt Wiegand (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn HS) rounded out the scoring at the 89:40 mark. The win moves the Cardinals to 7-9-2 overall, and 2-6 in the GLIAC, while Northwood falls to 8-7 overall, and 4-4 in the GLIAC. |
