Men’s Golf Takes Sixth at FIndianapolis Intercollegiate

LACONIA, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf program took sixth out of the six teams at the FIndianapolis Intercollegiate hosted by Findlay and UIndy. The team played 54 holes with two rounds on Monday and the final on Tuesday. The team shot rounds of 289, 294, and 303 for a total of 886.

Remy Stalcup led the Cardinals with a total score of 221 which tied him for 14th out of 42 golfers. Stalcup shot rounds of 76, 70, and 75. Joey Per was close behind tied for 17th with rounds of 74, 71, and 77 for a total score of 222. Ethan Swenson had one more total stroke with a score of 223 and rounds of 70, 73, and 80 for his finish tied for 19th. Shea Harmeson had the best round for SVSU golfers on Monday starting with a 69 and following with rounds of 80 and 77 for a total of 226. Thomas Keyte rounded out the team with rounds of 76, 82, and 74 for a total score of 232. Jiseung Choi golfed individually and shot rounds of 79, 76, and 78 for a total of 233.

The Cardinals finished third of six in pars with 166 total and was first in eagles with four. Stalcup led the tournament with 41 pars while he. Per, Swenson, and Harmeson all had an eagle. Keyte was tied for eighth in pars with 35. Stalcup also was tied for sixth on par three shooting two over.

Men's golf has ten days off to get ready for the GLIAC Championships. The tournament starts on Friday, April 12 and continues through Sunday, April 14 at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Bedford, Michigan.
