Cardinals tied for 2nd after opening round of GLIAC North Championship

BIG RAPIDS -- The Cardinal Men's Golf team is in a tie for second place after the first round of action at the 2018 GLIAC North Championship, held at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan. Saginaw Valley shot a score of 288, sitting in the two spot at +8. 

SVSU is tied with Grand Valley State in the second place spot while Ferris State is just two over and is six strokes clear of the Cardinals and Lakers. 

Jared Lyons is the first day leader after firing a two-under score of 68 over the first 18 holes. He holds a one stroke lead heading into Sunday's action.

Gunnar Stein also ranks in the top-five ofthe outing as he fired an even par 70, putting him only two strokes off the pace in fourth place.

Dustin Pumford had an opening round 72 (+2) and is top-10 as well, sitting in 9th place.

Nicklaus Bailey and (78) and Will Sattler (80) competed for the Cards as well, rounding out the lineup.

Round two action will take place Sunday from the Katke Golf Course.
