Cardinals Move up to 5th at 2018 GLIAC Championships

NASHPORT, Ohio - The SVSU Men's Golf team improved three places overall as a team, jumping to fifth place overall after play Saturday at the 2018 GLIAC Championships in Nashport, Ohio. 

The Cardinals trimmed 16 strokes off their first round score, coming in with a round two tally of 300 to sit four shots behind 4th place Wayne State (612). GVSU leads the event with an 18-hole score of 594. 

Ryan Peruski leads the Cards after the second day, posting a two-over 74. He finished his second round with four straight birdies and is tied for 7th overall at 150 (+6). Austin Carter had the low round for SV, carding an even-par 72. He was aided by three straight birdies on holes 5-7. Carter is tied for 14th after pairing that round with his Friday score of 81 153 (+9). Dustin Pumford is tied for 23rd overall after his second straight round of 78, putting him at 156 (+12) overall. Jared Lyons finished Saturday's scoring with his 76, using four birdies to his credit to tie for 30th overall currently at 157 (+13). Mason Motte also competed, shooting his second straight round of 81.

Saginaw Valley will conclude action on Sunday for the championship round at The Virtues Golf Club.
