NASHPORT, Ohio -- The SVSU Men's Golf team sits in eighth place after the opening round of the 2018 GLIAC Men's Golf Championships, hosted at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. 

The Cardinals posted an opening round score of 316, a single stroke behind seventh place Northern Michigan. Ashland leads the championship after firing an opening round of 302, one stroke ahead of GVSU. 

Ryan Peruski had the low round for Saginaw Valley, shooting a 76 (+4) to sit in a tie for 11th place overall thru 18 holes. Dustin Pumford had the next best card, registering a score of 78 (+6). He is tied for 21st overall. Austin Carter, Mason Motte and Jared Lyons all rounded-out the scoring for Saginaw Valley with a round of 81. They are tied for 36th overall.
