COLUMBUS, Ind. -- The Cardinals Men's Golf team sits in 9th place after the opening round of the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational, held at the Otter Creek Golf Club. 

Saginaw Valley shot an opening round of 297 and sits 11 strokes behind first round co-leaders GVSU and Bellarmine. 

Jared Lyons led the way on day one, shooting an even par round of 72. He is in a tie for 14th place after 18 holes of play.

Ryan Peruski (T34) was next for the Cards, shooting a 74. Dustin Pumford (T42) posted a 75 while Mason Motte rounded-out the scoring for the day with a 76 and is tied for 51st. Austin Carter shot a 77 on day one.

Saginaw Valley returns to action on Monday for the second and final round looking to jump up the leaderboard.
