Cardinals Finish 4th at Findlay Spring Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Cardinal Men's Golf team competed on day two of the Findlay Spring Invite on Tuesday (Mar. 27) at the University Club of Kentucky - Big Blue Course.

Saginaw Valley finished in 4th place, an improvement of one spot after day one. The team followed-up Monday's score of 296 with a 303 (599), finishing nine strokes behind Maryville and GVSU, which both tied for 2nd place with a 590. Indianapolis won the event with a final score of 574.

Mason Motte had a stellar second round performance, firing a 67 (-5) to vault into a top-five finish. He ended up with a one-under total score of 143 after his rounds of 76-67 to finish all alone in fourth place. The five-under matched his career low in relation to par, a score he shot earlier this season at the Ohio Valley Highlands Cup Challenge.

Austin Carter posted a 78 (+6) on day two, finishing in a tie for 35th place after rounds of 74-78. Dustin Pumford (T-44) and Jared Lyons (T-68) rounded-out the team's scoring on Tuesday, scoring a 79-apiece. Pumford had rounds of 75-79 while Lyons went 78-79 for the tournament. Ryan Peruski carded an 80 after an opening round of 71, finishing tied for 30th place with a total score of 151.
