DEARBORN -- The SVSU Men's Golf team bounced back from a difficult first day to move three spots up the leaderboard and finish in fifth place at the 2017 Motor City Invitational.

The Cardinals shaved 24 strokes off their first round score, putting together rounds of 321-297 (618) to finish a single stroke behind fourth place Bellarmine. Wayne State, the tournament host, was the champion of the event with a total score of 603. 

Gunnar Stein had the low round of round two for the Cards, shooting an even par 72. He finished tied for 11th place overall with rounds of 79-72 (+7). 

Austin Carter was next, carding a score of 73 on day two. He shot rounds of 79-73 (+8) and finished tied for 14th place in the tournament. 

Ryan Peruski shot a second round score of 75, finishing tied for 26th with his rounds of 81-75 (+12). 

Mason Motte and Alex Dice each shot a 77 in round two. Motte had scores of 82-77 (+15) to finish 37th while Dice finished in a tie for 47th with scores of 85-77 (+18).  

The tournament completes the fall portion of the 2017-18 season for the Cardinals. The team with four top-five finishes, including claiming victory last week at the OVU Highlands Cup Challenge.
