DEARBORN -- The SVSU Men's Golf Team finished play on the first day of the Motor City Invitational tied for 8th place after an opening round score of 321. 

The Cardinals sit three shots behind Northwood University after battling high winds throughout the day. Tournament host Wayne State leads the event after an opening round of 303. 

Austin Carter and Gunnar Stein led the way for SVSU with scores of 79, followed by Ryan Peruski's 81. Mason Motte had an 82 to round-out the team's scoring. Alex Dice also competed for the Cards, shooting an 85. 

Up Next...

Saginaw Valley will conclude play for the tournament on Monday (Oct. 16) in the second round, looking to climb up the leaderboard.
