Cardinals Compete in First Round of Purgatory Regional

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The SVSU men's golf team competed in the first round of the fourth NCAA Regional event, held at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana. Saginaw Valley had an opening round score of 315 (+27) and sits in 17th place in the event after battling chilly temps and windy conditions.

The Cardinals sit a stroke behind Ferris State University and Bellarmine University leads with a score of 298, followed by Northwood University with a count of 299.

Mason Motte had the low round for the Cardinals, as he had a final tally of 75 after the first 18 holes. He sits in a tie for 15th place overall. Tommy Prato and Michael Hansen were next for SVSU with both players shooting a 79. They are tied for 66th overall. Ryan Peruski rounded-out the team's scoring with an 82 in his opening round. Dustin Pumford also competed, carding an opening round score of 83.

The team is back at it Monday (Apr. 11) for the second and final round of the regional tournament. SVSU tees-off at noon for round two.
