The Pioneers battled for a 7-0 run to take a 10-9 lead in the opening five minutes of play. The advantage would change hands three more times, with SVSU taking the final lead three field goals later (15-13) with 14:04 left in the fist half. Delta College hit a bucket to knot things up at 15 and continued to keep the margin under 10 until 7:09 was left in the first. Freddie McIntosh hit a layup to push the Cardinal lead to 11 points during a 15-0 run by the home team that extended the gap to 46-25. The lead was pushed to 59-30 by the halftime break and from there it was all SVSU.

The Cardinals go back on the road for two GLIAC away games in the next week. The first is against Wayne State in Detroit on Saturday, January 20. Tip-off against the Warriors is set for 3:00 p.m., EST. SVSU will then head back to Grand Rapids to play Davenport in the rescheduled game from this past Saturday, January 13. The game with the Panthers was postponed twice due to the weather that blanketed Michigan over the weekend. Tip-off for Monday's redo is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., EST.
