GLIAC -- The SVSU Men's Basketball team had a pair of student-athletes named to the 2018-19 All-GLIAC Second Team following their performances during the season, as sophomore guard Darnell Hoskins Jr. and freshman guard Myles Belyeu each earned the honor for the Cardinals.

Belyeu led the Cardinals in scoring in his freshman campaign, tallying 18.3 ppg while shooting 42.8% from the floor. He ranked second on the team with his 6.3 rpg and led the team with 36.4 minutes-per-game played. He finished third in the GLIAC in scoring and in minutes per game. Myles had 11 games in which he scored at least 20 points and a pair of 30-point performances. He scored a career-best 32 points on Nov. 13 at home versus Alma. He posted four double-doubles in his first season.

Hoskins ranked second on the team and eighth in the league in scoring. He led the way in the league with 85 three-pointers made, which is a new program record as well. He played in 35.7 minutes-per-game, ranking him fourth in the GLIAC. He scored 20-plus points 10 times, including a career-high 29 point performance on Jan. 3 on the road at Purdue Northwest.

Saginaw Valley posted a 10-18 overall record and 6-14 mark in the GLIAC this season with a roster that featured no seniors and 11-of-13 players being either freshmen or sophomores. The Cards won two of the last three games of the season, including an upset of No. 18 Ashland, to provide momentum heading into the offseason.
