UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The SVSU Men's Basketball team is set to travel to play at Michigan Tech University and Northern Michigan University this upcoming weekend to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The Cardinals, who are 2-4 overall this season, will be making the annual trek north earlier than usual, as the teams have usually played each other in January and February in years past.

- SVSU leads the all-time series, 41-40. Michigan Tech won both meetings last season. This will be the second-ever November meeting in the series, with the first coming in the first-ever meeting back on Nov. 30, 1972. The Huskies are coming off a 68-57 victory over Concordia-St. Paul, which halted a string of three straight defeats. They claimed victory in their season openers over Wisconsin-Parkside (82-57) and Lewis (87-80) in the season-opening GLIAC/GLVC Challenge, hosted at MTU.

- The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 36-30. The season series was split last season, with each team claiming a road victory. Prior to last season, Saginaw Valley had won eight straight meetings between the programs. The Wildcats last played at Gannon University, falling by a narrow 65-62 count. NMU claimed victory in its GLIAC / GLVC Challenge games at Tech as well, defeating Lewis (79-78) and Parkside (83-68).

SVSU nearly reached the 100-point mark after a solid shooting effort throughout the contest. The Cardinals shot 49.3% (36-73) from the floor and were 12-of-26 from beyond the arc. Mike Wells Jr. matched a career-high with his 23 points, adding four rebounds, three assists and a steal. DJ Hoskins added a new career-high as well, netting 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and 4-of-6 from three. He also chipped-in with four assists and a pair of steals. Richie Roberts grabbed a career-high nine rebounds in the victory. Sebastiano Lamonato added 12 points and six rebounds while Jake Daniels had 10 points. Malik Garner posted a new career-high with his 11 assists.
Hillsdale 79, SVSU 55 - Nov. 26, 2017 - Boxscore
The Chargers held SVSU to just 16 first half points and scored 52 points themselves in the second half to secure the 24-point victory. Mike Wells Jr. led the Cardinals offensively with 17 points. Fred John Jr. and Jeremy Pung each collected career-highs with eight rebounds while Hoskins added eight points.
