SVSU Men's Basketball Falls to #19 Hillsdale, 84-68

HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team fell to the #19-ranked Hillsdale Chargers today (2/19) by a score of 84-68.  With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 12-12 overall on the season and 8-9 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) while Hillsdale moves to 20-3 overall on the season and 14-3 in the GLIAC.

The Cardinals struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 14.8% from the hardwood and would enter the locker down 15 points. 

The second half of action would continue to bring hardship to SVSU, however the Cardinals would bring the Charger lead to just eight on a three-point play from sophomore Chris Webb (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill HS).  Webb would end the afternoon with 10 points and two assists. Saginaw Valley was unable to take over the lead, falling to Hillsdale, 84-68.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was sophomore Michael Fugate (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) who earned Meijer "Player of the Game" recognition, ending the afternoon with 16 points, three assists and pulled down two rebounds.  Junior Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind./T.C. Howe HS) posted 10 points, five rebounds and two assists while freshman Patrick O'Brien (Flint, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) had a game-high 10 rebounds and chipped in eight points.

Saginaw Valley will return to action next week (2/24) as they host Michigan Tech in a GLIAC match-up.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
