Cardinals Fall to Dragons, 84-65

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team had their four game win streak snapped today (Jan 27) when they fell to Tiffin University, 84-65 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest.

The Cardinals went ahead 9-4 early in the contest off a  Michael Fugate (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland HS) jump shot, but this would be the only lead of the half for them. Saginaw would knot the score at 15 at the 12:52 mark when junior Greg Foster (Indianapolis, Ind./T.C. Howe HS) drained a jump shot. The Cardinals found themselves trailing by 21 heading into the lockerroom at halftime after the Dragons went on a 20 point run at the 6:57 mark in the game.

Saginaw Valley cut the Tiffin lead to 12 at the 9:27 mark of the second half when sophomore Brett Beland (Menominee, Mich./Menominee HS) made a lay-up, but this is the closest they would come to taking the lead back. The Dragons went on to defeat the Cardinals 84-65.

Senior Keithan Jackson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Godwin Heights HS) earned "Meijer Player of the Game" recognition with his 17 points, two steals and eight rebounds for Saginaw Valley, while Foster added 14 points and four rebounds. Senior Adam Roberts (Adrian, Mich./Madison HS) added 10 points, one block, and six rebounds for the Cardinals.
