Football Hosts the 2024 Red Feather Classic Spring Game on Friday

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MICH. – The Saginaw Valley State University football team partners with the Fordney Club to host the 2024 Red Feather Classic Spring Game and Community Youth Clinic this Friday, April 19, inside Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium. The afternoon begins with the Community Youth Clinic at 4:00 PM EST, with the Spring Game following at 6:00 PM EST.

The Clinic is open to all youth in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Registration for the Community Youth Clinic will begin at 3:15 PM in the Stadium Courtyard. Parking for the event is in Lot C by the soccer/baseball complex. Both the clinic and Spring Game are free to attend.

"SVSU Football is excited to host another Spring Red Feather Classic this Friday," said SVSU head football coach Ryan Brady. "We are blessed to be partnering with the outstanding leaders [of] the Fordney Club of Saginaw to put on another free youth experience for the young people from the Great Lakes Bay Region. The Spring Game and Youth Experience is free to all. We hope to see everyone there!  Go Cards."

The format for this year's spring game is four quarters with running clocks until the final two minutes of each half. Each half will begin with a kickoff.

The scoring format for the game is as follows:

Offensive

Touchdown = 6 points
Field Goal = 3 points
2-Point Conversion = 2 points
Extra Point = 1 point
First Down = 1 point

Defensive

Touchdown = 6 points
Take Away = 6 points
3 & Out = 5 points
Force Punt = 3 points

SVSU football begins the 2024 Fall season on Thursday, September 5 at Winona State. The home opener for the Cardinals is week three of the season on Saturday, September 21 against Truman State with a 2:00 PM EST start time.
