WEEK 10: Cardinals set to host Wildcats on Senior Day

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team has rolled to four straight wins to climb to third place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Cardinals are playing their best football of the season and need to earn wins in the final two weeks to make a case for the NCAA DII Playoffs.

 
This Saturday is Senior Day for the Cardinals. SVSU will honor 18 seniors and their families prior to kickoff today. 
 
Last week, SVSU stifled Davenport University on the road, holding the Panthers to 80 yards of total offense in a 24-3 win in Caledonia, Mich. Tommy Scott was named the Meijer Player of the Game for the third time this season, finishing with 17 carries for 98 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown run. He added a 24-yard touchdown reception.
 
The Cardinal defense leads the nation in total takeaways with 29 after five turnovers forced against Davenport. SVSU has 14 interceptions and 15 fumble recoveries this season. 
 
Northern Michigan enters play this weekend riding a four-game losing streak after falling to No. 1 Ferris State University 44-24 on the road last weekend.
