UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State senior football student-athlete Matt McKoy has added another honor for his stellar 2016 season, earning Associated Press First Team Little All-American honors at defensive back on Sunday.

The AP distinction is the latest accolade awarded to McKoy, who finished his senior season leading the NCAA with five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) while recovering two fumbles (one for touchdown) and notching 76 tackles. He missed all but one series in his home finale and sat out the final game of the season due to injury.

McKoy was also tabbed as the GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year, First Team All-GLIAC, D2CCA First Team All-Super Region 4 and AFCA All-America Second Team this season.

The Associated Press Little All-American team consists of top players from the NCAA Divsion II, Division III and NAIA ranks.

He is the first Cardinal selected to the Little All-American First Team since former teammate Jeff Janis in 2013.
