WACO, Texas - Saginaw Valley State University senior football student-athlete Matt McKoy has racked-up another honor for his 2016 season, earning Second Team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) on Wednesday.

It adds another honor for the 6-2 safety from Canton, Michigan, who recently earned First Team All-Super Region Four plaudits from the Conference Commissioner's Association and was named the 2016 GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year and First Team All-GLIAC safety.

McKoy rounded-out his SVSU career by leading the league with five interceptions, taking one back for a touchdown. He also forced two fumbles, recovering another and taking that back for a score. He totaled 76 tackles from the defensive backfield, averaging 8.4 per contest despite playing just one series in the ninth game and missing the 10th and final contest.

He is the first Cardinal to earn all-america honors since 2013, when former teammate Jeff Janis was named to the AFCA All-America First Team.
