BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University football student-athletes Matt McKoy and Alex Kenrick have been selected as GLIAC Football Players of the Week after their performances on the road at Walsh on Saturday (Sep. 17) afternoon.

McKoy earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting nother stellar game for the Cardinals, leading the way with 11 tackles and a game-changing fumble recovery. With 1:19 remaining and SVSU clinging to a 3-point edge, Walsh drove to the SVSU 38-yard line before McKoy recovered a fumble and took it 65 yards for a touchdown, helping the Cardinals seal a 27-17 road victory. McKoy added a pair of pass break-ups in the contest as well and is currently second in the league with his 11.0 tackles per game average. The Saginaw Valley defense limited Walsh to a GLIAC Week 3-low 219 yards total offense en route to the win. This marks the second straight week McKoy has collected GLIAC Defense Player of the Week accolades.

Kenrick was 2-for-2 on field goal tries against Walsh, including booting a career-best 50-yard field goal in the third quarter to give the Cardinals a 13-10 edge. He went 3-for-3 on extra-point tries as well in the team's 27-17 road victory over the Cavaliers.

The Cardinals (2-1, 2-1 GLIAC) host Ohio Dominican University on Saturday (Sep. 24) night in a 7:00 p.m. matchup. The Panthers will enter the matchup with a 1-2 overall record and league mark as well.
